The Central Ridge library branch in Beverly Hills will host the “Florida Seashells: Past and Present” program July 15 at 10:30 a.m. as part of its Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading program.

Scientists and experts Leslie Moore and Pat Gould will be presenting information on fossilized and modern seashells found in Florida. Moore is a malacologist cataloger at the Smithsonian’s Seashell collection, and will speak about seashell families along Florida’s shoreline.

Attendees will learn about the ancestral history of Florida’s seashells by looking at fossilized shells found in quarries and sand pits, along with current shells found along beaches in the state.

To supplement the presentation, there is a seashell collection currently on display at the Central Ridge Library for the duration of the month.

Registration is required for the Florida Seashell program. The program is primarily tailored for youth but all ages are welcome to attend.

Card Making at the library is more than just a chance to get one’s “crafty” on. Meet others who enjoy crafting, create beautiful cards to send to friends and family and learn new techniques to try at home.

The Floral City branch’s monthly card class is a great way to get out of the house and learn something new.

Card Making will be happening on July 18 at 10:30 a.m. with “Hedgehog Love,” a huggable card for a dear friend, and again on Aug. 15 at 10:30 a.m. with a birthday card that is just delectable.

The BFF Society, a nonprofit organization, will be hosting their fourth annual Beautiful Woman Inside and Out fundraiser from 1-3 p.m. Sept. 17 at the George Washington Carver Community Center, 555 N.E. 3rd Ave., Crystal River.

There will be a mini fashion show, dessert auction and lots of arts and crafts vendors. Guests will also have the chance to win a $1,500 shopping spree with the Zyia Casual & Active Wear Company, as well as assorted gift cards and certificates.

The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum presents free “Kids’ Corner and Crafternoons” events for children on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

On July 16, the museum will host a kids’ story time, “Florida Animals,” with readings of stories about animals that are ancient, native and non-native to Florida. After the readings, kids will have a chance to create related arts and crafts projects.

The public is invited to join the Key Training Center for its annual Runners Celebration on July 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its Lecanto Campus Pavilion, located at 1311 N. Garnett Loop.

Celebrate the runners’ home return after their grueling 180 mile run with a day filled with fun, music, food and games.

For a $5 donation, all ages can enjoy unlimited inflatables, dunk tank challenge, epic water battles, face painting and a host of activities. The largest obstacle course is 101 feet long with a double slide combo.

The pinnacle of the event will be at 11 a.m. when the core and community runners cross the finish line.

This year, they will be adding live coverage from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., available through the website keytrainingcenter.org and social media outlets, including Facebook and YouTube.

The Citrus Community Concert Choir, directed by Karen Medrano, will present a concert titled “Summer Showcase” featuring many classic Disney favorites.

The program will highlight several soloists from the choir, as well as three of their four recent scholarship recipients.
